BENEFITS OF STATIC SHIELDING PACKAGING
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage many electronic components, including circuit boards and hard drives. Exposure to static may cause immediate failure, reduced performance or latent damage that can lead to failure later in the device’s life.
Whether you manufacture electronic components or rely on their performance as a critical part of your job, you need to protect your sensitive devices from electrostatic discharge. Static shielding bags can effectively guard against damage, while still allowing for ease of transportation and identification.
At Caltex Plastics, we provide static shield bags for both commercial and military use. The metal-in, five layer construction of our bags provides Faraday Cage protection for even the most ESD sensitive contents. You can count on your electronics functioning as they should once they are out of their packaging.
Our static shielding bags come in a variety of styles and are suitable to store:

CP STAT 100
CP STAT 100 provides excellent Faraday Cage protection for static-sensitive electronic devices. In addition to static shielding, its five-layer construction offers resistance to punctures, tears and abrasion. With 40 percent light transparency, you can see inside the bags to easily identify their contents. These features make CP STAT 100 a safe and practical choice.
CP STAT 100 contains no amines or amides, is N-Octanoic acid-free and polycarbonate compatible. It’s also ANSI/ESD S20.20 program compliant, so you can feel comfortable choosing CP STAT 100 as your static shielding material.
Choose from three styles — resealable lip & tape, zipper or heat-sealing flat design — and find static shielding bags that meet your needs.
CP STAT 100M
CP STAT 100M offers superior ESD shielding for military uses. Like our other static shielding materials, CP STAT 100M also provides puncture and tear resistance to protect important electronics from all kinds of damage.
To ensure consistent performance, we print our bags using a thermal transfer process, which preserves the physical and electrical integrity of the bags.
We offer static shield CP STAT 100M packaging in multiple styles and configurations for use in various challenging applications.

Can I order static shielding bags in custom sizes?
Yes. Caltex manufactures custom pouches and bags from static shielding material, including side gusset, bottom gusset, T-seal, and zipper configurations, with custom printing and thermal transfer. CP STAT 100 is also stocked in standard sizes from 3 x 5 to 18 x 24 inches in recloseable lip and tape, zipper, and flat styles. To order a custom size, send the dimensions, quantity, and application through the request-a-quote form.
What specifications and test data are available for static shielding bags?
CP STAT 100 is a metal-in, five-layer lamination with Faraday cage performance. It contains no amines, amides, or N-Octanoic acid, is polycarbonate compatible, and is ANSI/ESD S20.20 program compliant. It is lead-free and compliant with RoHS 2, REACH, and Conflict Minerals requirements. CP STAT 100M is the MIL-SPEC version, conforming to MIL-PRF-81705E Type 3 Class 2. Caltex products are laboratory tested to ensure they meet stated specifications. Data sheets are available through the data sheets form, and test data and product documentation are provided during the order process.
What is the difference between static shielding bags and anti-static bags?
Anti-static bags are static dissipative: they keep static electricity from building up on the bag, but a charge can still pass through the bag wall to the contents. Static shielding bags are also static dissipative, and they act as a Faraday cage that keeps charges out of the packaged item, which makes them the safest choice for static-sensitive items. Anti-static bags are a lower-cost alternative with less protection, suited to items that are not static-sensitive but ship to a static-controlled area. Moisture barrier bags add water vapor protection and must be heat sealed.
What determines the timing of a rush order for static shielding bags?
Whether the size is in stock. Caltex ships stock items the same day, including in-stock CP STAT 100 sizes, and manufactures 24 hours a day. For custom sizes, delivery estimates are provided during the order process. Put the deadline in the request-a-quote form: Caltex endeavors to answer all inquiries within 24 hours on business days.
Do static shielding bags need to be sealed to work?
Yes. A static shielding bag is fully effective only when it is completely sealed or closed. Use extra caution with sharp-edged items, which can compromise the bag. Caltex prints bags with a thermal transfer process, which preserves the physical and electrical integrity of the material.
