WHAT ARE MIL-SPEC MILITARY REGULATIONS?
To ensure everything from design and safety to reliability and conformity, the U.S. Department of Defense issues a set of standards known collectively as the MIL-STD — or military standard. While the MIL-STD document establishes the uniform requirements and standard practices for many of the components and materials used by the military, the MIL-SPEC — or military specifications — regulations go into even further detail with regard to specific technical and material requirements for items intended for military use.
When military items need to be shipped, the packaging used to ship them is also subject to MIL-SPEC regulations in order to protect these items from being contaminated and/or damaged due to forces such as water vapor, static electricity and electromagnetic interference.
As of 2001, MIL-SPEC-DTL 117 packaging regulations replaced MIL-B-117 for the description and requirements of the types of bags and shipping materials that manufacturers of military items are permitted to use. And while MIL-SPEC regulations are subject to change, you can always rest assure that all packaging materials supplied by Caltex Plastics meet the latest military specifications.
